Alias is a DJ born from the underground — where hip-hop met the rave. What started as dance became ritual, igniting a deep love for all sounds. Her name reflects that boundless passion: ALIAS.

AGENTS OF CHAOS

Experience the Sound

When did you start DJing?

2015 I started to learn, and 2016 I had my first gig.

What track changed everything for you? / What’s your biggest source of inspiration? (The one that made you say “this is it.”)

Downpipe by D. Ramirez, Mark Knight, and Underworld was the song that sucked me into
the rave scene, leading me to the infamous club The Guvernment, in Toronto for a Steve
Aoki show, which was actually one of the last shows at that club due to it being torn down.
My biggest inspiration would be the way I feel dancing in the atmosphere of a rave
environment, and of course the music, the different genres of EDM music. I knew I wanted to
be apart of this world forever, and not just as a dancer but initially I wanted to learn how to
produce music that DJs would play out but I realized I needed to learn how to DJ first. Of
course life happens and I still have yet to produce my own music, but I am eager, and I will.

Describe your sound in 3 words (No pressure.)

Spontaneous, Unexpected, Different

One artist who’s always in your sets?

Since I mix all genres of EDM (techno, dubstep, drum and bass, deep house, indie dance,
trance, etc...) it depends... for indie dance my absolute favourite, red axes. For techno,
depending on the sub genre, I love maceoplex for a more chill techno set, but I fast pace, I
love bad boombox. Honestly, there are so many amazing producers and I love to play as
much much as I can, so this is a really difficult question for me.

What’s your go-to outfit for a show? (Details, please.)

Wow, another question that is hard because my personality is so spontaneous, I will wear
whatever I feel comfortable in on that day. Sometimes I like to dress down, other times I like
to dress up. Dressing down is just a baggy t shirt and some fishnets, with some boots, and a
sprout LOL. Dressing up would be something more revealing, I guess...

Do you dress to blend in or stand out? (And why?)

Both. Because blending in is cool, and so is standing out.

What’s one non-negotiable before you hit the stage? (A ritual, a snack, a moment?)

Dancing before my set LOL. Maybe if I am opening the club, I will just know I will be able to
groove out while I am DJing.

What inspires your style off-stage?(Street, vintage, trends, whatever.)

I have so many different styles, maybe this is why the name ALIAS suits me. But I like
anything thats different, thats out of the ordinary and weird.

What do you wish more people understood about being a DJ? (Give us the real talk.)

Its about connection, not so much feeling like you are the most important person in the
room, I think sometimes ego can get in the way of that, and even the ego can make
someone nervous, which isn’t beneficial for the person who’s ego is coming out to play. It’s
also not good for the party, and that is what I think people need to remember. These events
Dj’s play is a party and you are the DJ, and you are there to have fun and to connect with
everyone there, feel the vibe, curate the vibe, pay attention to the vibe, and have a good
time. Now I guess sometimes people will say to DJ is also a performance, which is true, but
where there is music, and a crowd of people, it is always a party first.

If your sound had a color, what would it be?(And why?)

Purple, because it represents magic, and I think music is magical.
